Avis Car Rental at 3400 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs, California.

Incompetent Swindlers. I will absolutely never do business with AVIS or BUDGET again.

On January 9th, I made a reservation for a car on January 16-17. When I arrived, the guys at the desk had a set of keys ready, for the mustang I reserved, but when they were about to hand them over they told me that the reservation dates were wrong. The person I made the booking with over the phone had apparently booked me for Jan 8-10, which, as I said earlier, made no sense as I reserved my car on the 9th.

I figured, "No big deal, I already paid, and it was clearly a mix-up, and the key is in your hand, let's fix this."

Immediately I was told that they "didn't have any more cars." Which was odd, considering he was about to hand me the keys to the mustang. Then the representative tells me that he might be able to find me a full-size car, but it will cost A LOT more. Did I mention that I was refused a refund for the car I paid for but never received? That happened.

While I am here, angry and confused, another traveler, just getting in on the last flight, approaches the desk. Immediately the representative helping me tells him "We don't have any more cars." The new guest looks as baffled as I do. Next, the representative tells him "Well, I think I have a mid-size I could get you." To which the new guest says "You just told me you didn't have any cars." The representative tells hims (I'm paraphrasing) "I am just trying to help you guys out, give me a break."

At this point I had to stop the representative and ask him why I was told I could only get a FULL-SIZE car for an astronomical amount when he just offered this new guest a MID-SIZE rental which is obviously cheaper. Again I was met with the "give me a break, I'm just trying to help you because I feel bad."

All the while, the Swindler of a representative's poorly-trained colleague was trying to book me a reservation, I kid you not, after 5 failed attempts to make a reservation in his computer, I became so tired of dealing with these two that I told them to forget it, got in a cab, and slept in an awful hotel close to the airport so I could deal with it in the morning.

I felt like I was a tourist in a third world country being taken advantage of because I didn't know the laws. I am absolutely disgusted.

Palm Springs Airport is one of the easiest airports for car rentals. The entire process is handled by professional, friendly, courteous staff. We were going on a long trip so rented a mini van and it was extremely comfortable, good gas mileage and the vehicle was clean when picked up. The return process could not have been any easier. We drove right up to the return line, the whole process was handled in less than 5 minutes with courtesy, friendly staff. Highly recommend Avis Palm Springs Airport.
